Chapter 34 Survival
Chapter 34 Survival
Professor Perot's words came to an abrupt halt, as if an invisible giant hand had choked him.
His face was frozen in disbelief and horror, as if he had seen the most terrifying thing in the world, and his body involuntarily staggered back half a step!
The top floor of the wizard's tower fell into dead silence, with only the sharp shrieks of the rune array echoing in the air.
Kurt, Dila, Andy, and all the Level 3 apprentices were frozen in place, as if petrified, staring dumbfounded at this mind-blowing scene.
They couldn't understand their mentor's loss of composure, much less the origin of the cane in the hands of the first-class apprentice, Clara.
But the pervasive fear and horror emanating from their mentor, Perot, was like an Arctic current, instantly freezing their minds and blood!
Hick's mind went blank, and his heart felt as if it had been gripped by an icy hand and stopped abruptly!
All his calculations, all his confidence in victory, and his meticulously planned scheme to kill the "protagonist" completely crumbled into dust in the face of this unimaginable and illogical scene before him!
Clara… what is that thing in his hand?!
Professor Pelosi…he knows her?!
He... was actually afraid?!
A fire elemental staff that would make even a level two wizard tremble!
It’s over.
Everything... is completely out of control!
"I just want to be a quiet, junior apprentice."
Clara's voice regained its haughty and confident tone, the light from his cane illuminating his resolute face.
"Unfortunately, it seems this place isn't quite right for me."
At the heart of this wizard's tower, in the seat of a second-level wizard, that staff gave him unparalleled courage.
"You will die too, apprentice!"
Mentor Perot's voice carried a forced calmness, and even the radiance of the entire tower's rune array seemed unable to dispel his unease.
"I guarantee it! If you activate that magical artifact, you will surely die! Now, I'll let you leave! Leave the Wizard's Tower, leave the Silent Forest! How about it?"
This condition itself is proof of his fear.
"Death?" Klar scoffed, his tone full of disdain.
"No, I will not die. As for leaving... Instructor Pero, do you think I'm foolish? The moment I step out of this tower will be the moment I'm torn apart by the curse!"
He accurately spotted the opponent's possible trap.
Professor Perot's face instantly turned even uglier, as if covered with a layer of frost.
"So what do you want? To start it? You can try!" he growled, completely losing his previous composure and trying to regain some of his momentum.
"Hahaha!"
Clara burst into a merciless sneer.
"First you coveted my ring, then when you couldn't get it, you started threatening me? Professor Perot, you're... utterly pathetic and laughable!"
The laughter was particularly jarring in the deathly silence of the top floor. Then, his icy gaze turned to Hick.
"You are truly different, Hick. You lack any of the greed of a wizard..."
Clara's tone carried a hint of playful regret.
"If you act like a true wizard, I will stay... but you will disappear."
Having witnessed and heard this incredible standoff firsthand, Hick felt as if a thousand mythical beasts were trampling wildly in his heart!
Is this the "protagonist"?!
He had exhausted all his efforts, devising elaborate plans and schemes, yet this mere first-level apprentice, Krall, was able to force a second-level mentor, who possessed the core power of the Wizard Tower, to retreat step by step with just a staff!
Meanwhile, Kurt, Dila, Andy, and the other Level 3 apprentices had long since gone from being arrogant to being filled with barely concealed fear and apprehension!
Their understanding was completely overturned, as if the common sense they relied on for survival in the past had become the biggest obstacle to understanding the nightmare before them.
If they weren't in the heart of this suffocating standoff, they probably would have already turned and fled!
As if she felt she had had enough, Clara seemed to express a regretful reluctance:
"Well then, it's all over. Goodbye, Silent Forest!"
As Klar's voice faded, he prepared to activate the fire elemental staff in his hand, but...
"You shouldn't be spouting such nonsense, you little apprentice! Especially in front of a level two wizard who oversees the central area of the Wizarding Tower!"
Professor Pelosi's cold words were like a pardon, instantly dispelling the suffocating sense of despair in the room!
Hick and the others felt a sense of relief and almost simultaneously took a long, silent breath!
"How is this possible?!" For the first time, genuine shock and disbelief appeared on Klar's face. He desperately tried to activate his cane, but the deadly red light was like a candle flame that had been extinguished, with no response whatsoever!
"How did you do that?!"
"It's over, young apprentice! Time to set out and face the truth!"
Having learned his lesson the hard way, would Professor Pello give him a second chance?
A violent surge of magical energy gathered wildly in Instructor Pero's hands, drawing in energy from the entire top of the tower!
Without holding back, he directly invoked the power of the wizard tower, unleashing a terrifying level-two spell—
Shadow Light!
The ultimate darkness and shadow energy erupted like a roaring torrent, carrying a murderous intent that could annihilate everything!
The mere aftershocks of the dissipated energy made Hick and the others feel as if they had fallen into an ice cave, experiencing the heavy pressure of death!
Klara! He's in grave danger!
however--
Just as this fatal blow was about to strike, Krall's face showed no despair, but instead a strange glint of something she had anticipated!
A strange stone emanating unstable spatial fluctuations instantly appeared in his hand, and the malfunctioning cane was also swiftly retrieved into his ring.
"Goodbye!" Klar's figure began to blur in the ripples of space.
"Teleportation stone?! You deserve to die!!!" Instructor Pero's eyes widened in fury, his roar echoing across the top of the tower!
"Bang!!!"
A deafening explosion rang out right where Klar had been standing!
The raging shadow energy and the out-of-control spatial forces collided and tore each other apart violently!
The terrifying shockwave sent Heath and the others flying like rag dolls, crashing heavily to the ground!
Smoke and dust filled the air, and turbulent energy currents raged.
All that remained was a deep pit, ravaged by darkness, shadows, and spatial forces, as if it had been gnawed by a giant beast.
Instructor Perot's gaze was fixed on the edge of the pit—there, lying silently, was a severed arm, cut off by the spatial turbulence and reduced to charred dust!
Rage! Utter rage brought his voice to a chilling depth, as if it came from the abyss:
"Chase!"
"He hasn't left the Silent Forest! I'll give you an item that will allow you to sense his approximate location! Bring him back to me, dead or alive!"
Every word was imbued with chilling murderous intent.
Despite the excruciating pain and internal injuries, Hick and the others struggled to their feet and hissed in response:
"Yes, sir!"
"Hick!" Professor Perot turned his cold gaze to him, his eyes filled with anger and a hint of warning to the "smart man".
"Although there were some unexpected issues, I'm very satisfied with your performance. Bring that ring back. You're very clever, aren't you?"
The last sentence is full of undeniable implications.
Hick felt as if his bones had been crushed by a battering ram. He suppressed his surging blood and immediately bowed, his voice clear and firm:
"Understood, Master! The ring will definitely appear before you 'perfectly intact'!"
"Um."
Mentor Perot nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping over the severed arm. "I've already placed a curse on that young apprentice; he won't be able to use that ring again for the time being! So—be quick!"
"You little apprentice! You can't escape!"
Professor Perot's eyes were deep and mysterious...
